Heavy north winds and a cold front started a lot of birds moving through the straits this morning. Steve Baker joined me at the count for a couple hours in hope of jaegers, and while we remained jaegerless, we had a pretty good morning. Canada Geese are starting to migrate in good numbers, and we had big groups of Red-necked Grebes moving through as well. Several duck flocks passed through, including some Mallards and Redheads. The afternoon was quieter, but a handful of Bonaparte’s Gulls and a Broad-winged Hawk in the parking lot kept things interesting.
