Today Ed Pike and Bruce Seeger counted raptors at Point LaBarbe from 10 am till 3:15 pm. There were several visitors that stopped by the count site. There was a good movement of Raptors starting about 10:30 and tapering off after noon and pretty much stopping after 2:30 pm. There were still some vultures and redtails in the air to the north but they stopped crossing. Just before quitting the first Rough-legged Hawk flew across the Straits; hopefully many more will be seen as the season progresses. Made for a great day of counting Raptors.
With the east winds most of the raptors were crossing some distance to the west.
Totals are:
Turkey vulture 293
N. Harrier 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk 19
Bald Eagle 7
Red-shouldered Hawk 10
Red-tailed Hawk 73
Rough-legged Hawk 1
Sandhill Crane 21
