Waterbird Count – 17 October

Warmer weather was back in the straits today, along with more sun and southwest winds. Despite the weather, ducks were reasonably busy in the morning, with most of the movement being Mergansers, Aythya, and Long-tailed Ducks. Two female Northern Pintails grouped up with a Mallard and some White-winged Scoters heading west as well.

A couple large groups of crows came over today, but while I saw some kettles of Vultures over St. Ignace, none seemed to cross within visible range of McGulpin.
