Waterbird Count – 3 October

Another slow day again today before the front comes through tonight. My first Surf Scoter of the season was the highlight – a first year bird was loafing on the water in the afternoon, before eventually flying west. A group of White-winged Scoters flew by in the morning as well, but that was the extent of the waterbird activity. Northern Harriers and Sharp-shins came over in small numbers throughout the day, as did a pair of Sandhill Cranes.
