Strong Winds Lead to Short Night of Owl Banding

Last night, what was meant to be our first full night of owl banding was cut short due to inclement weather.  Despite some light snow early on, it was ultimately the wind that shut us down around 10:30pm.

During our short time of having nets open, we recaptured a male Northern Saw-whet Owl that we had banded the night before.  He had put on 2 grams of weight in one day.

We hope that the weather will allow us to get a full night of banding in tonight.  There is a 40 percent chance of snow after midnight, but the wind should not be as severe as last night.
