Waterbird Count – 1 September

The wind from yesterday had died down by this morning, and not much seemed to be moving in response. Cormorants were migrating in good numbers, but that was about all that was moving today.
In cool natural observation news, right after sunrise, Steve Baker and I noticed a couple of peregrines coming over the straits in hot pursuit of a migrating songbird. The pair took turns diving at it until one eventually caught it. They fought over it the rest of the way across the straits, before disappearing behind trees.
