Friends and Colleagues of Mackinac Straits Raptor Watch:
I am happy to announce that as of January 1, Scott Davis has joined MSRW as its part-time Executive Director. MSRW was founded and has been driven by a very dedicated and passionate group of volunteers. People who donated their time, talent, and resources to helping MSRW become a critical contributor to the conservation of raptors in North America; and in the process shining a light on the importance of the Straits Area to raptor migrations and life histories. But at some point in the evolution of an organization, volunteers alone aren’t enough. To get to the next level often requires someone willing to dedicate time and energy specifically to the challenges of a growing non-profit. And for that I am grateful Scott has come along.
Scott comes to us after a 30-year career in conservation and non-profit management, much of it with The Nature Conservancy and the US Forest Service. He also has long-standing family ties to northern Michigan and four years ago he and his wife moved permanently to the area. He served on the MSRW Board briefly before throwing his hat into the ring during the Executive Director search. Please see his bio on our website for a bit more detail on Scott’s background.
All of us at MSRW are excited to take this next step and look forward to working with Scott to continue to grow and develop MSRW’s research and conservation programs. Expect to see and hear more from him as we move forward! Happy New Year!
Regards,
Ed Pike, MSRW Chairman of the Board
