Owl Banding 10/9/16

Point LaBarbe, St. Ignace, MI
Night of October 9th, 2016

A calm, clear night made for a pleasant night of banding, though bird activity was rather low. We caught a total of 22 birds, one was a repeat from several days prior, and 2 were foreign retraps. Of the new birds banded, 14 were female, 4 were male, and the other 3 were of unknown sex. Out of the 14 females, 9 were hatch years, 1 was a second year bird, and the other 4 aged as after second year birds. All 4 of the males were hatch year birds. Of the 3 unknown birds, 2 were hatch year birds and the third bird was aged as and after second year.
