I gave Jason a day off and did the count on Saturday. It was pretty slow overall. Mostly it was Double-crested Cormorants passing back and forth. However, there were enough Common Loons in the morning to keep me occupied. By the late morning I could see raptors beginning to kettle in large numbers over the Upper Peninsula. The calm, sunny, warm day seemed like good tidings for a big raptor flight, but overall it never picked up as I had hoped. However, Bald Eagles did move south in good numbers, with 31 being counted, mostly in the afternoon. For a complete checklist for the count, see this eBird checklist.
