Site Count Data
Our data collection value is extended via our membership in an international network of hawk count sites. Through collaboration with the Hawk Migration Association (HMA, formerly HMANA), we gain expert help analyzing our data, and an Americas-wide context for understanding its significance.
Analysis conducted by HMA, automatically on their Hawkcount.org database site, includes all the Spring and Fall raptor migration data that MSRW has collected through the years, and offers new insights about migrating raptors.
You also may have noticed that MSRW is continually adding more technology to our research and data counting arsenal. To that end, we’ve recently written our own counting app! You may remember in the past, in this space, we showed our daily and hourly count data, as logged with counting apps named Dunkadoo, and then Trektellen. We thought we’d give it a shot ourselves, and are currently testing our own app. Check out our first attempt at daily count data summaries at the bottom of this page. We know that it’s basic, and maybe doesn’t show new data every day (due to a variety of possible reasons), but please let us know what you think, and if you think that seeing our daily counts is worth it!
