Waterbirds Tuesday, 1 Sept. 2015

The waterbird count at the Straits was very slow today from 7 am till 10 am.  The winds were light from the southwest, with overcast skies and hazy conditions.  The haze limited visibility to about 2.5 miles.

There were 2 Red-necked Grebes sitting on the lake off McGalpin Point, the only ones seen.  There were the usual Ring-billed Gulls with a few Herring Gulls flying around and sitting on the water and a number of Double-crested Cormorants scattered around and flying by.  The only migrant seen coming across the Straits from the north were 2 Monarch Butterflies.
